2017 Volunteer/Internship Opportunity for Admin Support

DOAS is seeking a volunteer/intern for the fall and spring semesters to help with various tasks for administrative support.  Work for this internship would be done remotely, and requires a commitment of approximately 3 to 5 hrs. per week.  Transportation is not required.

Tasks include: 

DOAS Archives Project:

  • Digitization and keywording of DOAS Archive Documents;
  • Carefully scanning documents to create pdf files (small portable printer provided for scanning);
  • Combining single page pdf scans to multiple page pdf documents as required by content;
    (Free software and training for this process will be provided.)
  • Files must be named according to protocols (to be established) and a list of keywords related to content must be attached to/accompany each file;  
  • Files must be uploaded to cloud storage account and organized in file folders as per protocols (to be established);

DOAS Social Media Materials:

A shared spreadsheet (with 1 worksheet for each of the 3 sets of information as detailed below) will be provided for this use.

  • Using DOAS.US website as source for content, create re-usable post content for ongoing use in DOAS Social Media.
    Content to include: Title; Post message (1-4 sentences); #HashTags (as warranted); @Tags (as warranted); link to webpage; link to image location;
  • Using DOAS.US website as source for content, create date-specific post content for one-time use in DOAS Social Media.
    Content to include: Date Info (what month of year); Title; Post message (1-4 sentences); #HashTags (as warranted); @Tags (as warranted); link to webpage; link to image location;
  • Using other nature/environmental/birds/science-related websites as sources for content, create general “posts of interest” content for one time use in DOAS Social Media.  These should not be tied to any specific date or time of year; 
    Content to include: Date Info (what month of year); Title; Post message (1-4 sentences); #HashTags (as warranted); @Tags (as warranted); link to webpage; link to image location;

DOAS Admin Support (as needed):

  • Small support tasks that arise on a shorter term basis through the semester/year.
    This may entail things like online research; help with mailings or drafting an ENews bulletin, creating a poster graphic or flyer, etc.
