Septmber 19, 2025 is the date for Mohawk Valley Day of Giving with Otsego County organizations invited to participate through the collaborative efforts of the Community Foundation of Otsego County.
This year, DOAS is hoping to raise the remaining money to finish out our accessibility work at the Sanctuary at Franklin Mountain. Our accessible trail is in place, but we still need about $7,000 in order to build the viewing platform overlooking the wetland near the parking area.
We hope you will consider making a donation (anytime between September 15 and 19 (donating on the 19th opens up matching fund opportunities)! You can find our profile online at the link below:

We also want to bring attention to the campaign for support from Falcon Heart Rescue, our go-to wildlife rehabilitator in Herkimer County, licensed in NYS and federally for raptors. Support for rehabilitation in our region is desperately needed.

Falcon Heart Rescue, operated by Deb and John Saltis, is dedicated to rehabilitating injured and orphaned birds of prey. Their team of volunteers provides medical care and rehabilitation services to ensure the birds can be released back into the wild. Additionally, they educate the community about raptors and the importance of conservation.
Delaware Otsego Audubon’s annual Open House attendees have benefitted from their educational presentations, and many have supported them financially. By donating through Mohawk Valley Gives between September 15-19, that support is doubled. Please consider this alternative.
Recently, Co-President Becky Gretton successfully released three Broad-winged Hawks at Deb and John Saltis’ request. It brought their service to these vulnerable birds totally to heart.
Pictured here is one of them, ready to go.
Donate anytime between Sept 15 and 19 at https://www.givemv.org/organizations/falcon-heart-rescue.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
