Protecting our Environment...Connecting People with Nature...For Birds & Wildlife

Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society (DOAS)

Established in 1968 – A Chapter of the National Audubon Society since 1970

Non-Lead Ammunition Initiative.

  • switching to non-lead ammunition/copper ammo is better for you and nature, as lead ammo is harmful to humans and nature.
  • if you use lead ammo bury your gut piles, so that scavengers can’t eat it and become poisoned
  • lead is dangerous, as it harms where ever it lands in the body.
  • some hunters don’t see themselves as a problem
  • after years of problems with DDT, eagles are finally making a comeback
  • going hunting is a huge connection with nature
  • more eagles are harmed during deer hunting season because of lead ammo and gut piles
  • a lot of people don’t know that lead ammo breaks apart while in the deer so thats why eagles keep having problems and how also people can have issues eating the meat if not looked at
