Bluebird Nest Box Report for July 26, 2013

Nest-box report on the Leatherstocking Golf Course.

Boxes inspected on July 26, 2013 by Ruthe Ayres and John Davis.

Boxes 1 and 2 near Golf Maintenance Building. Boxes 3 and 4 southwest corner of upper golf course. Boxes 5 and 6 northeast corner of upper golf course. Boxes 7 and 8 in depression north of road leading to club house, boxes 9 and 10 east of the highway, across from the Farmers’ Museum Maintenance Building.

Box 1. Empty
Box 2. Large Tree Swallow nestlings. See photo. Adult in nearby tree

Box 5. Empty
Box 6. Complete Bluebird fledge. Nest removed.
Other boxes presumably inactive and not checked.
SUMMARY: Late Tree Swallow nesting continues. Otherwise nesting season probably over. Will recheck next week.
