Leatherstocking Golf Course nest box report for 7/8/13

Boxes inspected on July 8, 2013 by  John Davis.

Boxes 1 and 2 near Golf Maintenance Building. Boxes 3 and 4 southwest corner of upper golf course. Boxes 5 and 6 northeast corner of upper golf course. Boxes 7 and 8 in depression north of road leading to club house, boxes 9 and 10 east of the highway, across from the Farmers’ Museum Maintenance Building.

Box 1. Nest of tiny ants on box floor. Removed

Box 2. Five small warm Tree Swallow nestlings. See photo.

Boxes 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10 not checked.
Box 5. Empty.
Box 6: 4-5 warm large Bluebird nestlings.No photo obtained.
SUMMARY: Eastern Bluebird and Tree Swallow nesting activity continues. Will recheck next week.
 
Golfers, please feel free to watch and enjoy the nesting activity, staying at least 50 feet from the boxes. Questions or comments to John Davis.
